Research Interests:
My professional interests have recently shifted from laboratory-based biochemical research, primarily in the area of enzyme purification, to technical, scientific and medical writing and editing. I recently spent a year as a senior editor at the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, and my teaching responsibilities are split between the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Technical and Scientific Communication.
My teaching interests include helping students appreciate how the experiments of scientists of the past, particularly British scientists, established the fundamental principles (e.g., evolution) on which modern science is based. I have developed a London-based travel-study program that takes students to historical sites and museums associated with important British scientists.
