Directions from Washington DC / Dulles

I-66 West to Front Royal (approx. 50 min)
I-81 South (approx. 50 min.) to Exit 245
Turn left onto Port Republic Road off exit
Turn left at second traffic light (Past Days Inn on your left)
Turn left at the top of the hill.
Go ~ 1 mile to JMU entrance on Left
Go ~ 0.5 miles past several buildings. There will be an open area and then a parking lot on the right.
Physics / Chemistry Building is on the left. Park in the lot D2 on the Right in a visitor space

I-64 West to Staunton (approx. 1.5 hrs)
I-81 North (approx. 30 min.) to Exit 245
Turn right onto Port Republic Road off exit

Typical Visit Schedule

The following is a description of a typical schedule for an invited seminar speaker to the Chemistry Department. This is of course flexible, and is scheduled according to the speakers preference and prior travel arrangements.

 
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meet with JMU Chemistry faculty
 
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Lunch with JMU Chemistry students
 
1:30 - 2:30 pm
Informal drop in time to meet with JMU students to talk about chemistry careers, grad school, etc.
 
2:30 - 3:00 pm
Tour departmental facilities
 
3:00 - 3:30 pm
Seminar prep time
 
3:30 - 4:45 pm
Departmental Seminar
 
5:00 - 6:30 pm
Dinner with faculty
