"Pulsars as Astrophysical Tools"

Dr.  Duncan Lorimer

Abstract

"Pulsars, rapidly rotating highly magnetized neutron stars, are fascinating objects to study. Their clock-like stability has allowed astronomers to use them in a number of fundamental physics experiments, most notably to test Einstein's general theory of relativity in the strong-field regime. In this talk, I will provide a brief introduction to pulsar science, highlight some of the most recent results, and look forward to the next 15 years of possible discoveries."
