GOALS (This week will be a continuation of week 2):

        Explore how reistors in series work

        Explore how resistors in parallel work

        Explore how an LED works.


A summary of some of the ideas contained in our water model.


Proper use of an LED requires a resistor (50 to 500 Ohms) in series to limit the current.


We will find that an LED is like a one way valve. Current can only flow in one direction so if the LED is placed in the circuit in the wrong direction it will not light up. An LED also requires that voltage be above a certain minimum value called the turn-on voltage. For those in the lab the value is about 1.6 V.
