2003 – present: Member in the Hall B BoNuS Collaboration. The JMU group is involved in the development of the BoNuS detector that will be installed in Hall B at Jefferson Lab. August 2001 – August 2002: Postdoctoral associate in Hall C at Jefferson Lab.

Work on the design and prototyping of a beam halo monitor for Hall C at Jefferson Lab.

1999 – August 2001: Postdoctoral associate at George Washington University.

Analysis of Hall B (Jefferson Lab) real photon scattering data, in particular the gd ®KY, YºL or S, reaction (experiment E89-045). These data are used to study the kaon photoproduction on neutron and the effects of the nuclear medium on kaon photoproduction on the nucleon. Preliminary results were presented at the INPC2001 conference and were published in the proceedings.

In collaboration with Dr. C.Armstrong from Jefferson Lab the proposal for an experiment to measure the nucleon structure function F2 at low momentum transfer Q2 was developed. The PAC at Jefferson Lab approved this experiment in January 2000 with A- rating. These data will be used to extend the quark – hadron duality studies to low Q2. This experiment took data in spring 2003.

1996 – 1999—Graduate student at Hampton University

Analysis of Jefferson Lab inclusive resonance electroproduction data for doctoral thesis. The data span the missing mass range 1<W2<4 GeV2 and momentum transfer range 0.5<Q2<4.0 (GeV/c)2 for both hydrogen and deuterium targets. Cross sections obtained in this region are being used to investigate Bloom-Gilman duality. This work was published in Phys. Rev. Letters (2 papers). In collaboration with Dr. S.Liuti from the University of Virginia, global inclusive data were used to extract QCD moments and higher twist effects. This work was published in Phy. Rev. D.

1995:

Participated in experiment IUCF E387 – “Measurements of the Differential Cross Sections and Polarization Transfer Observables in the 2-H( p,n) reaction” at Indiana University Cyclotron Facility (IUCF).

Summer 1994 – 1995

IUCF experiment E377 – Calibration of the Neutron Polarimeter to Be Used in Experiments to Measure the Electric Form Factor of the Neutron at Bates and CEBAF. Participated in the calibration run and was responsible for the analysis of three of the four measured kinematics. These results were published in IEEE Transaction on Nuclear Science.

Summer 1992 – Fall 1993: General Instrumentation Studies as follows:

Participated in testing photomultipliers for the lead glass shower counter for the HMS spectrometer in Hall C at the Continuous Electron Beam Facility (CEBAF).

In 1993 at the NuHEP Center at Hampton University, tested straw tube drift chamber. The tests included studies of the time response of the detector, and measurements of the drift velocity in an argon-ethane gas mixture at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. Additionally, timing response studies were done of a gas microstrip chamber using ultraviolet-light-ionized photoelectrons.

Summer 1990 and Spring 1991

Thesis work at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, (JINR) Dubna, Russia. The subject of this research was ionization detectors for high energy physics. The results were used in designing the muon detectors for the MARS experiment at the UNK-Protvino accelerator.

1989:

Involved in studies of BGO scintillation detectors at Bucharest University, in collaboration with the Institute for Physics and Technology of Materials, Bucharest, Romania. Spectrometric tests were performed (studies of the linear dependence of the pulse amplitude with photon energy, energy resolution and full energy peak efficiency of the detector). The experimental results were compared with results from a Monte Carlo simulation.
